Comments: My father Sherman Hussey(82nd Airborne Division) served in VietNam was killed May 1,1968. Is there anyone that served with him or know of him out there? My mother died December 1969 so I don’t have a lot of information.

Comments: IT SEEMS SO LONG AGO! LIKE WE WERE ALL PART OF A MOVIE. I CAN RE-CALL THE SMELL THAT HIT YOU WHEN FIRST GETTING OFF THE PLANE AND PLACING YOUR FEET ON VIETNUM SOIL FOR THE FIRST TIME. I CAN RE-CALL THINKING TO MYSELF THIS IS IT THE ONE PLACE YOU DON’T WANT TO BE BUT YOUR HERE SO LETS MAKE THE BEST OF IT. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE TRAINING THAT ALL FIRST TIMERS WENT THROUGH I WAS SENT TO A PLACE CALLED COPPERHEAD. ONCE I ARRIVED I WAS BROUGHT TO THE S-4 SECTION OF THE 82ND AIRBORN 3RD BRIGADE. I WAS ASIGNED MY SLEEPING AREA AND MEET SOME OF THE PEOPLE I WHOULD DEPEND ON TO SHOW ME THE ROPES. OR SHOULD I SAY LEARN EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR MY PATH THAT CONFRONTED ME. ONE YEAR WAS LOOKING ME IN THE FACE. ONE YEAR AWAY FROM THE TOILETS I GROW UP WITH AND LEARNED TO BE SO FOUND OF. LEARNING TO SHOWER WITHOUT HOT WATER WAS NOT PLANNED ON. I WAS ASSIGHED TO WORK ON A RATION TRUCK OUT OF S-4. I WILL NOT GO INTO ALL THAT I WENT THROUGH BUT I WILL SAY I LEARNED TO VALUE THE FRIENDSHIP OF THOS

Comments: I accompanied my dad, Mike, to the 82nd Airborne reunion in August. It was a life changing experience. I gained a lot of respect for the men and women who served and still serve. I felt a bridge being built from the past to the present with every story I was told and every tear I saw drop. You all are TRUE AMERICAN HEROES. I still can’t believe I walked among America’s Best and took pictures of the bravest men the world has ever known.
